Why the name St. Brendan?
St. Brendan’s Anglican Church was founded in 2007 by a small group of faithful Anglican Christians to be a Christ-centered, Gospel-proclaiming, and Spirit-filled church for the city of Bellingham.
At its founding, our church adopted the name of Saint Brendan, a 6th century Irish priest, who traversed the seas in small boats, to spread the Gospel to, and establish Christian communities on, the islands off Ireland and Scotland. While Bellingham as a nautical city certainly influenced our name, all the more, we desire to follow the example of Brendan, who followed the example of Christ, to spread the Gospel, and establish healthy-Gospel community.
